What’s all the commotion about?

One of the topics that continues to come up in just about every business forum discussion is the impact of social media on the market.  Companies that are engaging and leveraging it are winning.  The companies that are still sitting on the sidelines are missing out.  Here’s a newsflash:  If you keep doing what you’ve always done in your marketing, you will not keep getting what you’ve always gotten.  You are going to get less.  That’s a significant shift.  We think that if something works – we should just keep doing it because it works.  Social media has changed that.  Things that work today are not going to work tomorrow.  Our customers are getting smarter and savvier everyday.  The available choices are ever-expanding.  So we have to continue to evolve.  Social media is where we have the opportunity to both listen and speak.  We have unlimited access to our markets to learn about them and to allow them to know us.  What an incredible gift!

I cannot say it any better than the man I consider to be the marketing thought leader of my generation, Seth Godin:

“How can you squander even one more day not taking advantage of the greatest shifts of our generation? How dare you settle for less when the world has made it so easy for you to be remarkable?”

Well said, Seth.  Well said.

Let’s be remarkable.
