Myth buster: Chicken anyone? A lesson from history.

Harlan Sanders was born in 1890. At the time, his life expectancy was 42 years.  He lived to the age of 90.

His father died when he was six years old forcing his mother to work. Those circumstances also forced young Harlan to learn to cook.

He dropped out of school in the 7th grade and eventually left home because of an abusive step-parent.

At age 40, he was operating a gas station.  But he also knew how to cook.

He served food to his customers and became famous for his recipes.  It was not long before his restaurant services became his focus.

He literally moved the operation from his living quarters to one of the first restaurants within a motel.

When that business “failed” because of a new highway, he took money from his first social security check (at age 65) and created the franchise we know today as Kentucky Fried Chicken or KFC.

His first infusion of capital was $105.

When reading this story, which of his circumstances most resonates with you? Are any of them holding you back from reaching for your own dreams?

Which belief do you need to let go of?  Not enough education?  Problems coming at you from every direction?  No money?  No one to help?  Too old?

Whatever it is – let it go.  You are the only one allowing it to stop you.  Think about that.  You are the ONLY one allowing it to stop you.

Just look at this wonderful success story.  He dropped out of school – no money – setbacks from every corner of life.  But at 65 – he began again.  With $105 in capital from his social security check!

And the rest as they say… is history.

Bust the myth.  Believe in the vision.  Build your life.
