Sunday’s Song: Creative Worship

It is written that we were created in God’s image.  That has always been an extraordinary thought to me.  And compelling.  From the beginning we have had the power of thought and of choice.  We have had the responsibility of caring for what is given to us.  We have had the need and capacity to communicate and commune.  And we have been blessed with the ability to create.  Something passed on to us because we were created by the Creator, in His image.

It seems then that the most powerful expression of worship would not come from the normal religious rites but rather from what we do with what has been given us.  Can there be anything more pleasing to God than to see our creations? As a parent, and now grandparent, I can attest to the fact that what I feel when I see an beautiful piece of art glass created by my daughter, a beautiful meal prepared by her hand or go through the many drawings that my granddaughter has given me is ten-fold more satisfying than looking at any of my own work.  It re-enforces the fact that we all have that innate and inborn need to witness the continuance of life and purpose.

And so on this Sunday, I wanted to share something that I thought would showcase the idea of talent but also of creativity.  While the music itself is wonderful, the context it gives to creativity and originality is remarkable.  Listen and watch.  Think about the fact that this is all done by two people using a piano, a cello, a kick drum and some mouth percussion.  All of the sounds coming just from the instruments shown.  Over 100 tracks of music recorded and then mixed and mastered to give us a masterpiece.

When I work with clients that are looking to find a deeper purpose for their lives, it is here that we begin.  What are you creating?  And what are you inspiring others to create? Not what are we doing or acquiring or even giving.  What are we creating and inspiring?

When you look in the mirror what do you see?  When you look at others, what do you see?  I see creators.

Enjoy!  Create!
