Sunday’s Song: The Place Just Right

The words are simple, as is the tune.  It’s simplicity is the message.  It is the gift.  I first found this old Shaker hymn when planning my daughter’s wedding nearly eight years ago.  I was looking for something unique that could be done with string instruments and voice.  I was delighted to find this treasure.  The message still resonates with me.  Having spent this past weekend with the happy couple and their two children (my incredible grand-girls!), I thought it fitting to select it as Sunday’s Song. I particularly enjoy this version from Yo Yo Ma and Alison Krauss.

What a blessing to know that love and delight are the signs that we are in the place just right.  That means that through gratitude and love, we can make any place just right! And so we turn, turn and turn which translates to we grow, grow, and grow.  We are not afraid of change.  We welcome it.   And so we find love and delight!

‘Tis the gift to be simple, ’tis the gift to be free,
‘Tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
Will be in the valley of love and delight.

When true simplicity is gained,
To bow and to bend, we shan’t be ashamed,
To turn, turn, will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right”
