Sunday’s Song: I Believe I Can Fly

When we believe in ourselves, the possibilities for our life are wide open.
When our belief in ourselves comes from a deep spiritual knowing, those possibilities can be miraculous.
We won’t just do things – we will fly, we will soar.

R Kelly’s I Believe I Can Fly is one of my favorite pieces of music. It came to mind this week and I started to search for a rendition to share with you here.  The one in today’s Sunday’s Song video combines the talents of Yolanda Adams (what a gift!), musical director David Foster (incredible!) and the Soul Children of Chicago (beautiful!) in a live performance during the Concert for World Children’s Day in 2002.

The miracle of this is that when we believe, we act. And when we act, we achieve. I hope that today’s offering reminds you that you too have wings.  That you are inspired to renew your belief and that you soar! (Lyrics shown below)

“I Believe I Can Fly”

I used to think that I could not go on
And life was nothing but an awful song
But now I know the meaning of true love
I’m leaning on the everlasting arms
If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it
I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly
See I was on the verge of breaking down
Sometimes silence can seem so loud
There are miracles in life I must achieve
But first I know it starts inside of me, oh
If I can see it, then I can be it
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it
I believe I can fly,
If I just spread my wings
I will fly.
